Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use DocMaps.

AnyLink Health Inc. o/a DocMaps (“DocMaps”, “we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use and share your information when you use our website located at docmaps.ca, widgets, tools, applications and other services offered by us (collectively the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy also explains how we use cookies and similar technologies. By using the Platform you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Personal information: Personal information is information about an identifiable individual. This includes information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact, or locate an individual. We collect personal information when you voluntarily provide it to us through our Platform or through other means. For example, we may collect personal information such as your name, address, email address and telephone number when you create an account, make a purchase, enter a contest or promotion, communicate with us, submit a review, register to receive a newsletter, take a survey or otherwise submit personal information to us with your communication.
  • Third-Party Log In: If you register and sign in using third party credentials, such as using your Google account, you are authorizing us to collect, store and use, in accordance with this Privacy Policy, all information that you agreed that such third party would provide to us through such third party’s Application Programming Interface ("API"). Such information may include, without limitation, your first and last name, username, profile picture, unique identifier and access token, and e-mail address.
  • Health Information: We may collect information about your health, such as your health card number, physician preferences, health concerns (“Health Information”) when you voluntarily provide it to us through our Platform or through other means.
  • Geolocational Information. Certain features and functionalities of the Platform are based on your location. In order to provide these features and functionalities, we may, with your consent, collect geolocational information from you. You may decline to allow us to collect such geolocational information, in which case we will not be able to provide certain features or functionalities to you.
  • Technical information. Technical information which is information including your IP address, browser type, device and system information, unique identifier, the web page you visited before accessing the Platform, location information, date and time stamps, crash reports, system activity and other similar information and interactions with the Platform. Some technical information can be personal information, either by itself or when combined with other information.
  • Information Collected Through Cookies and Technological Means: We or our third party service providers may use “cookies”, pixels and other technologies to record Technical Information and other information about you or your activity. A “cookie” is a piece of data stored on the computer hard drive or memory containing information about the user. You may modify your browser’s settings so that your browser stops accepting cookies or prompts you before accepting a cookie. If you do not accept cookies, you may still use the Platform, but certain areas or features may not function properly.

2. How we use your information

We use your personal information, other than Health Information, to provide products and services and to manage our business operations. For example, we may use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • to register your account;
  • to authenticate you when you log into your account;
  • to provide, administer and improve our Platform;
  • to fulfill your requests for services;
  • to communicate with you about your requests;
  • to administer our provision of, and your payment for, products or services you request from us;
  • to personalize and improve your experience;
  • to protect the security or integrity of our Platform and our business; and
  • to provide or offer updates, promotions and announcements.

We use your Health Information only for the specific purpose for which it was provided and with your consent. For example, we may use your Health Information to help you find a suitable family practice clinic or to help you register with Health Care Connect.

We retain your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected the information or as required by law.

3. How we share your information

We may share your information, other than Health Information, with third-party service providers who help us with our business operations. For example, we share information with service providers who provide us with development, storage, analytics and payment processing services. We require our service providers to keep your personal information secure.

We may share your Health Information only with your express consent. For example, if you use our Chatbot to help you register with Health Care Connect or an Ontario Health Team, we will share your Health Information with Health Care Connect or an Ontario Health Team.

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, we may transfer your personal information as part of that transaction.

We may share information about you if necessary for us to collect a debt from you or as permitted or required by law, for example with regulators and law enforcement agencies.

4. How you change your information

If you have an account, you may review and change personal information which you provided to us by contacting us using the email address below.

5. Links to Third Party Services

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, including social networks (“Third Party Services”). These links are provided for your convenience. We have no control over and are not responsible for the privacy practices of Third Party Services. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our Platform and to read the privacy policies of each and every Third Party Service that collects personal information. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by this Platform.

6. Storage Outside of Canada

Your personal information may be stored by us or our service providers in Ontario or Quebec, with the exception of your email address, which may be stored by Google, who we use to assist with account registration, outside of Canada.

7. How we Protect your Information

We will take reasonable steps to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. Reasonable steps include measures appropriate to the level of sensitivity of the personal information. However, no method of electronic transmission or service is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, hacking, data loss or breaches of our security systems will never occur. Accordingly, you should not transmit personal information to us using our Platform if you consider that information to be sensitive.

8. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may change our Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes to our Privacy Policy, we will notify you by email, by a notice displayed on the Platform or by similar means and by revising the “Last Updated” date above. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy frequently to stay informed about our privacy practices. By continuing to use the Platform after the changes are made, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
